The blog that starts it all....

Welcome to the first blog!

This blog will take to you to places you've never been before, or maybe you have but I will be taking you on a journey to ten of my favorite places Ive been to in the country, so far). Some of them will be obvious and some might just surprise you (or not). So here we go... Stop number 1 is just a short drive from home if you live in San Antonio.

Mustang Island State Park

The view from the campsite at Mustang Island, Texas
Located near the Gulf of Mexico and in between Corpus Christi and Port Aransas. This place is has such a beautiful view of the ocean. This is one of my favorite beaches in Texas simply because it is more private but still public. You can park along the coastline and pitch a tent very while cooking up a good barbecue under the gazebos. Plus it is very clean.

Another one of the reasons why I love it here is because for me personally not being a very outdoorsy person there is running water for rinse showers and portable toilets for those who are camping. even though port a potties are one if the grossest things to me, I still think it is better than going in the middle of nowhere like the bushes or something.

There is also paddling available that goes through to the Corpus Christ Bay, try doing that when you don't know how to swim. Its some scary adventure. Fishing is another popular thing to do, I mean of course its the beach. How can you go to the beach and not go fishing. When you enter the park and onto the beach if you park along the shore and walk a few minutes to the left over some giant rocks, there is a cliff that is perfect for fishing. The breeze always hits it just right so its never too hot and its a perfect height where it is not too high or not too low. The view is amazing. I wish I could go everyday.

To me this place is so peaceful, and it isn't a far drive to get to Corpus, so if you want even more adventure then you can take a drive to Corpus to see the Selena Statue or the Texas State Aquarium. It is all close by. There is a five dollar entry for each adult but it is worth it.
My husband and I enjoying some quality time at Mustang Island.
